Mohamed Salah Named PFA Player of the Year as Liverpool Stars Dominate Team of the Season

LONDON – Mohamed Salah has been crowned the PFA Player of the Year for the third time in his career, after firing Liverpool to a record-equalling 20th English top-flight title last season.

The Egyptian forward, 33, enjoyed another sensational campaign, scoring 29 goals and providing 18 assists, as the Reds wrapped up the league crown with four games to spare. Salah had previously won the prestigious award in 2017/18 and 2021/22, further cementing his legacy as one of the Premier League’s modern greats.

His stellar season also earned him the Football Writers’ Association and Premier League Player of the Year awards in recent months.

Rogers, Isak, Among Other Honourees

Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers claimed the Young Player of the Year prize after a breakthrough campaign that included his senior England debut. Meanwhile, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak was named in the Team of the Year after finishing runner-up to Salah in the Golden Boot race.

Salah features in the 2024/25 PFA Premier League Team of the Year alongside Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, and summer signing Milos Kerkez. Arsenal also dominated the lineup with William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Declan Rice included. Nottingham Forest duo Matz Sels and Chris Wood were recognised for their strong campaigns.

Women’s Awards

In the women’s category, Arsenal’s Mariona Caldentey was named Player of the Year after inspiring the Gunners to Champions League glory in her debut season. The Spanish midfielder scored 19 goals in all competitions, including eight in Europe.

Her new teammate, Canadian star Olivia Smith, who recently joined Arsenal in a world-record £1 million transfer from Liverpool, won the Women’s Young Player of the Year award following her standout season at Anfield.
