Mohammad Nawaz Shines as Pakistan Crushes Afghanistan, Stars Urged to Help Rebuild Lives
Sharjah — Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz delivered a spectacular all-round performance as his team clinched the tri-series trophy against Afghanistan at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Following the victory, Nawaz made a heartfelt appeal to fellow stars, urging them to contribute to rebuilding the lives of those affected by crises.
On the field, Pakistan dominated Afghanistan by 75 runs, largely thanks to Nawaz’s brilliance with both bat and ball. Afghanistan, chasing 142, were bowled out for just 66.
Nawaz dismantled the Afghan batting lineup in a stunning display of precision. He began the onslaught with back-to-back wickets in the final two balls of the sixth over, dismissing Darwish Rasooli and Azmatullah Omarzai for ducks, leaving Afghanistan struggling at 29/4.
Coming back in the eighth over, Nawaz struck again by removing Ibrahim Zadran for 9 on the first ball, completing his maiden hat-trick. Not stopping there, he took another wicket two balls later, sending Karim Jannat back to the pavilion for a duck, reducing Afghanistan to 32/6.
Abrar Ahmed and Nawaz continued the pressure, dismissing Mohammad Nabi for three and Rashid Khan for 17, leaving Afghanistan reeling at 55/8 in just 12.2 overs.
Nawaz’s five-wicket haul was the highlight of the match, cementing Pakistan’s commanding win in the tri-series final.
