Flooding Hits Low-Lying Areas

Yesterday, rising water levels in the Malir and Lyari streams led to floodwaters entering several residential areas. The heavy downpour, coupled with rainfall in the catchment areas of the Kirthar mountain range—a natural border between Sindh and Balochistan—caused the Mol, Khadeji, and Jaranda streams to swell, feeding water into the Malir stream.

Water levels in the Lyari stream also continued to rise, prompting residents in low-lying neighborhoods around Malir to evacuate their homes and move to safer locations, reports. Authorities have urged the public to stay cautious as the rainfall is expected to continue.
