Karachi Traffic Korangi River Still Closed
Karachi Traffic Improves on Some Routes, Korangi River Crossing Remains Closed
Karachi – Traffic authorities have cleared key routes between Baloch Colony and the Korangi Industrial Area, police officials confirmed on Thursday. While vehicles are now moving more freely in both directions along this stretch, the Korangi River crossing remains closed due to severe damage.
SP Traffic Korangi is actively managing traffic at Jam Sadiq Bridge, where both tracks remain operational, according to the Karachi Traffic Police.
Earlier, the closure of the EBM Causeway triggered massive congestion across the city, affecting Qayyumabad Chowrangi, Jam Sadiq Bridge, Brooks Chowrangi, and surrounding areas. The overflowing river forced authorities to shut main arteries to ensure public safety, leaving thousands of commuters stranded in gridlock. Eyewitnesses reported long queues of vehicles stretching for miles, worsened by flooding and poor drainage.
Traffic police noted that congestion at Qayyumabad Chowrangi and Jam Sadiq Bridge significantly intensified the crisis, with residents stuck for hours in Korangi.
Karachi has experienced heavy to moderate rainfall since Tuesday, with the downpour continuing in many areas on Thursday, further complicating traffic and emergency response efforts.
