Alcaraz Wins Second US Open Back to No.1

NEW YORK — Carlos Alcaraz has returned to the top of world tennis after capturing his second US Open crown, defeating Jannik Sinner in a thrilling final at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The 22-year-old Spaniard, who first rose to No. 1 in 2022, now holds six Grand Slam titles after displacing Sinner in the rankings.

Under grey skies in New York, Alcaraz delivered dazzling shot-making from the start. He sealed an early break with a disguised drop-shot winner and then closed the opening set with a blistering serve that Sinner could only drive into the net.

Sinner, cheered on by a packed stadium that included former U.S. President Donald Trump, responded strongly in the second set, saving a break point and leveling the match. But Alcaraz roared back, storming to a 5-0 lead in the third set before sealing it with another powerful serve.

The Italian showed flashes of brilliance in the fourth, including two stunning volleys that drew huge applause. But he faltered under pressure in the fifth game, surrendering the decisive break.

Dressed in a bright pink vest, Alcaraz powered his way to victory on his third match point. He celebrated with fists raised to the sky before embracing Sinner and joining his team for jubilant celebrations.

The win marks Alcaraz’s third straight Grand Slam final against Sinner this year and reaffirms his place as the new standard-bearer in men’s tennis.
