Ameesha Patel Opens Up About Choosing Career Over Love
Mumbai – Bollywood actor Ameesha Patel, 50, known for her roles in popular films, has revealed why she remains single, despite receiving proposals from men of all ages.
In a candid interview, Patel said that while she was once the one chasing boys in school, today she chooses to be single. “People who love you will let your career prosper,” she explained. “I have lost a lot for my career, and I have also lost a lot for love. I have given up both for the other, and I think I have learnt from both.”
The actor shared an example from her past: “I had one serious relationship before I joined films. He came from a big industrial family in South Bombay, like mine, with a similar background and education. It ticked all the boxes, but when I decided to pursue films, my partner did not want a person in the public eye. That’s when I chose my career over love.”
Patel added that she continues to receive marriage proposals, including from men half her age. “I am all up for marriage, as long as I find someone worthy,” she said.
She added with a smile, “They say, ‘Where there is a will, there is a way.’ So the person who finds me through everything and ‘mauke par chauka maarlege’ (takes advantage of the situation) will be my person.”
The actor emphasized that while she is open to dating, maturity matters more than age. “I still get proposals from well-to-do families. People half my age want to take me out, and I am open to it because a man has to be mentally mature. I have met a lot of people older than me who have the IQ of a fly,” Patel concluded.
