Bangladesh Beat Afghanistan in Last-Ball Asia Cup 2025 Thriller

Bangladesh Edge Afghanistan in Last-Ball Thriller at Asia Cup 2025

KARACHI – Bangladesh pulled off a nail-biting win against Afghanistan, clinching victory by just nine runs in their Asia Cup 2025 clash.

Chasing 155, Afghanistan were bowled out for 146 on the final delivery of the match. Their innings began poorly, losing two wickets inside 4.1 overs at just 18 runs. A 33-run partnership between Gulbadin Naib and Rahmanullah Gurbaz briefly steadied the chase, but quick dismissals kept the required run rate climbing.

Late fireworks from Azmatullah Omarzai (30 off 16) and skipper Rashid Khan (20 off 11) gave Afghanistan hope, but Bangladesh’s bowlers held firm under pressure. Mustafizur Rahman led the attack with three wickets, while Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, and Nasum Ahmed chipped in with two each.

Earlier, Bangladesh posted 154-5 in their 20 overs after a strong start from the openers. Tanzid Hasan struck an explosive 52 from 31 balls, featuring four boundaries and three sixes, while Saif Hassan contributed 30 off 28. However, once Tanzid and captain Litton Das departed, the innings slowed, with Afghanistan’s spinners Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad applying the brakes effectively. Both conceded under 27 runs in their full quota.
