Pakistan Forces Kill 31 Indian-Sponsored Militants in Lakki Marwat and Bannu Operations
ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s security forces carried out intelligence-driven operations in Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts, neutralizing a total of 31 militants reportedly sponsored by India, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to ISPR, during an operation in Lakki Marwat targeting a militant hideout, Pakistani troops engaged the militants in a fierce exchange of fire, killing 14 of them. A separate operation in Bannu saw security forces eliminate 17 more militants in a similar encounter.
“Sanitization operations are ongoing to ensure that no Indian-sponsored militants remain in the area. Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to eradicating the threat of foreign-backed terrorism from the country,” the ISPR statement added.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited Bannu to oversee counter-terrorism measures and show support for the armed forces. The visit included high-level defense briefings, condolence prayers for 12 soldiers who recently lost their lives, and reaffirmation of Pakistan’s determination to combat terrorism.
Both leaders also highlighted the role of foreign actors, particularly from Afghanistan and India, in facilitating cross-border terrorism through proxy networks aimed at destabilizing Pakistan.
