Christian Eriksen Joins Wolfsburg, Eyes Fresh Start in Bundesliga

Wolfsburg has confirmed the signing of 33-year-old midfielder Christian Eriksen, who has agreed to a contract running until the summer of 2027.

Eriksen, who made 107 appearances and scored eight goals during three seasons at Manchester United, also lifted the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. Last season, he started just 11 of his 23 Premier League appearances, contributing one goal and two assists.

“This is my first club in the Bundesliga, and I’m really looking forward to this new adventure,” Eriksen said. “I’m convinced we can achieve something together.”

The Danish international added that Wolfsburg manager Paul Simonis’ clear vision played a key role in his decision. “I immediately sensed that he knows what he wants for the team and for me personally. Having several familiar faces from the Danish national team in the squad also makes Wolfsburg a particularly attractive destination.”

Eriksen, who previously played for Ajax, Tottenham, Brentford, Inter Milan, and Manchester United, famously suffered a cardiac arrest during Euro 2020. Since leaving United, he had been training with Malmo to regain full fitness.

Wolfsburg have started the Bundesliga season unbeaten, with one win and one draw, and Eriksen could make his debut against Cologne on Saturday.
