Local officials reported on Monday that at least five bodies have been exhumed from the mud following a landslide that buried residences in eastern Afghanistan.
Hurriyat Radio English in Kabul reported that the landslide in the Tatin hamlet of the Nurgram district in the eastern Nuristan province damaged at least 20 dwellings.
It said that efforts are in progress to recover the others.
Provincial authorities voiced concern that the death toll would rise.
In the last several days, there has been a lot of rainfall in the neighborhood.
In the meantime, an avalanche in the northern Panjshir province claimed the lives of two miners and injured another.
According to Tolo News, based in Kabul, the incident took place on Sunday night in the Mukani hamlet of the province’s Hese-Awal district.
