Jamaica Stay Perfect in World Cup Qualifiers, Haiti Held in Thriller

KINGSTON – Jamaica continued its strong start to the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers with a 2-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday. Bailey Cadamarteri struck first in the 36th minute with a header set up by Greg Leigh, and Jon Russell sealed the win with a goal in the 57th.

The result leaves Jamaica on top of Group B with six points, following their opening 4-0 win away to Bermuda.

Trinidad and Tobago endured frustration after having two goals from Levi Garcia ruled out by VAR in the 29th and 63rd minutes.

Elsewhere in Group B, Curacao moved into second place on four points after edging Bermuda 3-2 at home. Sheffield United midfielder Tahith Chong scored twice in the first half before providing the assist for Tyrese Noslin’s 75th-minute winner. Bermuda had fought back through Kane Crichlow and Djair Parfitt-Williams to level the match before Noslin’s decisive strike.

In Group C, Haiti and Costa Rica played out a dramatic 3-3 draw. Costa Rica surged ahead with goals from Kenneth Vargas in the opening minute and Alonso Martínez in the 35th. But Duckens Nazon turned the game on its head with a stunning second-half hat-trick, netting in the 55th, 58th, and 86th minutes to give Haiti a 3-2 lead. Costa Rica rescued a point deep into stoppage time as Juan Vargas equalized in the 91st minute.

Meanwhile, Honduras claimed top spot in Group C after defeating Nicaragua 2-0 at home. Romell Quioto opened the scoring right after the restart in the 47th minute, and Alexy Vega added a stoppage-time goal to secure the win.
