Karachi to Get More Water as New Hub Canal Opens on August 13

KARACHI – Mayor Murtaza Wahab has said that some viral videos on social media are just false propaganda. He said if those videos were true, the government would not be planning to open the new water canal on August 13.

The mayor shared that Karachi is getting extra water after 22 years, thanks to the efforts of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

“We built the new Hub Canal in just 10 months, which is a record,” he added. The project is expected to improve water supply in Karachi by building a new 100 million gallons per day (MGD) canal from Hub Dam and repairing old systems.

Mayor Wahab also said that two major problems came up during the work, but both were solved successfully.

He added that the Governor of Sindh promised Rs 100 billion for this project, and Rs 40 billion has already been received. “I request him to transfer the money to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) account,” the mayor said.
