Important dates:
The moon of Muharram was seen in Pakistan on June 26, so Ashura will be on July 6.

Why Muharram is important:
Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar.

1st Muharram is known as Youm-e-Umar, remembering Hazrat Umar (RA), the second Caliph of Islam, who was martyred on this day in the year 644 CE.

10th Muharram, called Ashura, is the day when Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), his family, and companions were martyred in the Battle of Karbala.
