Fresh Applications Invited for PIA Privatization Advisor

ISLAMABAD – The Privatization Commission has invited fresh applications from companies interested in being appointed as financial advisors for the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) privatization process.

According to the commission, firms must submit their applications along with a non-refundable fee of 1,000 US dollars by September 2 in Islamabad.

The PIA privatization drive has been picking up pace in recent weeks. One of the approved bidding companies is set to visit the airline’s head office, where officials will inspect aircraft and review key records. The delegation is also expected to tour other vital PIA facilities tomorrow.

Meanwhile, sources confirm that delegations from two additional companies are scheduled to visit PIA installations next week as part of the due diligence process.

The process gained momentum after the Privatization Commission Board, chaired by Prime Minister’s Advisor on Privatization Muhammad Ali, approved four bidders for due diligence during its 237th meeting. The Cabinet Committee on Privatization also authorized the transaction structure for the Roosevelt Hotel, while discussions over another major state asset are still underway.

As per the government’s plan, between 51 to 100 percent shares of PIA, along with management control, are being offered to attract serious investors. The shortlisted bidders have now been granted access to a virtual data room and will carry out detailed assessments over the next two months. Final bids are expected to be submitted in the last quarter of 2025.
