Pakistan Railways to Launch High-Tech Business Train on July 19

LAHORE – Pakistan Railways (PR) is set to inaugurate a new high-tech business train on July 19, offering passengers a state-of-the-art travel experience with modern amenities.

According to officials, the newly launched train will feature 28 digitally equipped coaches, free Wi-Fi access, and an international-standard dining car. The service aims to provide passengers with enhanced comfort, convenience, and efficiency.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will formally inaugurate the train service at a ceremony in Lahore. The launch is part of PR’s ongoing modernization efforts to upgrade the railway system across the country.

The modernization initiative also includes the introduction of digital ticketing systems, enhanced onboard services, and upgraded facilities at railway stations. These steps are designed to improve passenger satisfaction and streamline operations.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, PR is moving ahead with plans to outsource the commercial management of certain train services. An official from the Ministry of Railways revealed that the department earned over Rs 3,959 million in revenue from brake and luggage van operations over the past three years.

These services, the official said, were managed both directly by PR and through private contractors. “The outsourcing has been conducted through a transparent bidding process, using open tenders that are publicly advertised,” the official added.

The new business train launch and outsourcing strategy reflect Pakistan Railways’ broader commitment to improving service quality and enhancing revenue through public-private partnerships.
