UK-Stolen Luxury Car Traced to Karachi Police Begin Recovery Operation

Luxury Car Stolen in UK Tracked to Karachi, Police Launch Recovery Efforts

Karachi – A luxury vehicle reported stolen in Harrogate, UK, on 22 November 2022, has been traced to Karachi, prompting local authorities to step up recovery efforts.

According to a letter shared by UK police, the car’s tracking system first lost signal in Leeds, but on 11 February, it was detected near Korangi Road, Azam Basti, Saddar. UK authorities requested the assistance of Pakistani police to help retrieve the stolen vehicle.

Interpol confirmed that the car’s details are listed on its Stolen Motor Vehicle (SMV) database. Following the international alert, Karachi police have launched operations to locate and recover the luxury vehicle.

In a related development, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), working with Interpol, recently arrested a proclaimed offender in Croatia after 16 years on the run. Iftikhar Ahmed, wanted in connection with a 2008 dacoity case registered at Sialkot’s Agoki Police Station, was brought back to Islamabad via coordinated efforts between Interpol Islamabad and Interpol Croatia.

An FIA spokesperson highlighted that modern technology allows Interpol’s National Central Bureaus (NCBs) to maintain round-the-clock contact with global law enforcement, enabling efficient information sharing and cooperation in combating international crime.
