Arrest Aurangzeb Farooqi Trending on Twitter

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday asked the Sindh home department about the current status of Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqi; the chief of the banned Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ); on the Fourth Schedule. Moreover, Aurangzeb Farooqi; the chief of the proscribed Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat; deposed in an anti-terrorism court on Monday against an under-trial suspect; saying that Johar Hussain was one of the attackers who ambushed his convoy eight years ago. Six people — four police guards, a private gunman; the driver of the ASWJ chief; were killed in the attack on Rashid Minhas Road on the December 25 holiday in 2012. He survived the attack.

Secondly, Examining the A-class report, the ATC ordered the investigation officer of the case to obtain a fresh document from the provincial home department about the status of Farooqi; whether he was still on the list or removed from it.  Furthermore, As part of streamlining the record of suspects on a watch list under the ATA; a provincial committee had recommended a list of 118 individuals associated with different sectarian and proscribed outfits to re-notify them under the Fourth Schedule in 2017.

Moreover, Farooqi appeared in the court amid tight security. Additionally, The ATC-VI, at a previous hearing, had issued a non-bailable warrant for his arrest over his repeated absence. Furthermore, The judge had ordered top police officers to produce him in the court. Lastly, Hussain is said to be an activist of the proscribed Sipah-e-Muhammad Pakistan; which has a rivalry with the ASWJ, formerly known as the Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan.
