For Karachi, the PM announces 150 busses

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif made his first official visit to Karachi since taking office. During his tour, he stated that 150 buses will be added to the city’s transportation system.

The prime minister signed the guestbook, paid his respects, and offered prayers for the advancement and prosperity of the country at Mazar-e-Quaid upon his arrival.

During his tour of the Sindh government’s transportation system, PM Shahbaz reportedly praised the efforts made by the government to improve public transportation services.

During a high-level meeting with provincial leadership, he said that the decision to assign 150 buses was made in response to a request made by Sindh Minister for Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon.

PM Shahbaz called the high-level meeting, which was held in the Chief Minister’s House. The prime minister was attended by federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Owais Leghari, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Musadik Malik, Jam Kamal, and Ataullah Tarar, while the host province was represented by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and provincial ministers and officials.

Thanking the premier for coming, Chief Minister Murad said he was certain PM Shahbaz will act quickly to resolve Sindh’s problems and mentioned the province’s important role in the federal cabinet.

In interactions with business leaders, the prime minister conveyed hope for Pakistan’s export potential, pledging to work with companies to double export volumes in the next five years.

In order to promote export-led growth, he guaranteed the creation of an extensive policy framework that would be built in collaboration with the business community.

Earlier this week, Karachi launched the Pink Bus service, which is only for women and girls. The service is free for the first two months and then charges a minimal fee of Rs50 per passenger after that.

Inaugurating the program, MPA Faryal Talpur, Chairperson of the PPP Women’s Wing, praised its role in empowering women and promoting growth and prosperity.
