An attempt to bring 224 kg of drugs into Belgium is foiled by the ANF
On Thursday, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) stopped a major methamphetamine smuggling effort to reach Belgium and seized almost 224 kg of the illicit drug.
Five shipping containers’ walls and roofs were used to expertly conceal the narcotics, which were disguised as soapstones.
Through the border crossing at Torkham, the containers were being transported from Karachi to Afghanistan, with Belgium serving as the eventual destination.
The ANF staff found the drug stockpile during an inspection and confiscated every container. At the Karachi harbor, the bust was created.
Two citizens of Afghanistan were among the three suspects detained by the authorities. “The three suspects, two of whom are from Afghanistan, were arrested while trying to escape,” authorities stated.
During an operation at the Torkham border crossing earlier in April, customs authorities were able to successfully capture a sizable stockpile of illegal narcotics valued at Rs1 billion.
Following a comprehensive investigation, hidden compartments in a car were found to contain 18 kg of heroin and 14 kg of ice.
According to the top customs collector, the street value of the drugs that were seized on the global market is thought to be around Rs. 1 billion.
