Thirteen April 23, 2004, saw it open in thirty cinemas. Over time, it developed a devoted fan base and became a Rom-Com cult classic.

However, Jennifer Garner, who played the movie’s major role, said on the film’s 20th anniversary that she hadn’t anticipated it would become so popular.

In an interview with People Magazine, 52-year-old Jennifer Garner discussed her thoughts on working on the movie with co-stars Andy Serkis,59, and Mark Ruffallo, 56.

She exclaimed, “It was magical,” adding that she was unaware of the movie’s future cultural influence at the time.

“It wasn’t a huge movie,” she said, adding that “even though it wasn’t crazy, it was the biggest paycheck any of us had ever had.”

It was a huge improvement. We were unsure if it would be beneficial,” she continued.

Jenna Rink, played by Garner, is a thirteen-year-old girl who, disturbed by the trials of adolescence, wakes up unexpectedly in the body of her thirty-year-old self.

Actress Christa Belle, who also spoke with the newspaper, portrayed a younger Jenna.

Belle, who is currently 32, said, “I think 13 Going on 30 will always be remembered as a romantic comedy classic as well as a cinematic love letter to the power of manifestation.”
