225 Coronavirus cases registered in KP schools since reopening

In Peshawar a coronavirus case study from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department said Monday the province’s schools have registered 225 coronavirus (COVID-19) cases after reopening.

The period covered in the study was from September 15 to October 3, the health department said.

The test results of 17,090 students, teachers, and other staff came out negative.

Whereas 4,096 results were still awaited.

The ratio of positive coronavirus cases in schools stood at 1.25%, the report said;

Yet adding that over 1,500 samples were being collected daily from the schools.

The report further said that 22,222 samples have been collected from teachers, students, and staff, to date.

The report added that the samples were being collected randomly from schools in 17 districts.

According to official statistics;

1. KP has recorded a total of 38,076 coronavirus infections

2. More than 1,200 deaths

3. Over 36,000 recoveries

Reopening of educational institutions triggered COVID-19 (coronavirus) wave?

Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi Campus was opened but two positive cases emerged in the first week and the campus has gone into lockdown once more.

Whereas the Sindh Health Department disclosed that eight employees of Matiari, Hala and New Saeedabad colleges have been diagnosed positive in coronavirus tests.

The department added:

“Two professors and a senior clerk of Hala Girls College, have also been among the infected persons,”

Based on the best available data:

Covid-19 appears to have a limited direct effect on children’s health, accounting for about 8.5 per cent of reported cases globally, and very few deaths.

Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood said that;

The federal authorities would assist the educational institutions for conducting coronavirus tests wherever needed.

He went onto say that there are around 215 universities in the country and almost every university has a hostel.

He added:

“Education centres would be closed after a warning over violation of SOPs as it is very important to maintain safety guidelines to stop the spread of the virus,”
