The Peshawar gun assault injured two transgender

Early on Saturday morning, two transgender people were hurt when unknown gunmen opened fire on them close to Kohat Road in Peshawar.

As they arrived at a CNG pump on Kohat Road, inside the boundaries of Rahman Baba police station, four guys on two motorbikes and brandishing firearms pursued and attacked them. They were on their way home after a wedding.

Kamran, also known as Jaya, and Hamza, also known as Mehek, were named as the injured. They were sent to a hospital so they could receive care.

At the crime site was a police force commanded by DSP Saddar Circle Arbab Naeem Haider and SP Saddar Division Muhammad Zaman Khan.

While visiting the injured at the hospital, SSP Operations Kashif Zulfikar gave them the assurance that the offenders will be held responsible.

A transgender person was the victim of a vicious stabbing in the Faqirabad neighborhood of Peshawar last year, in a similar act of violence.

The victim, named as Ghazal, was found lying in a pool of blood in a plaza on Ring Road. After learning of the occurrence, the local police sent a squad right away to the location. But before they could get there, the attacker got away.

Ghazal was fatally stabbed, according to police, and her corpse was taken for an autopsy after the murder scene was cleared.

An inquiry team under the direction of ASP Tilal Ahmad Shah was established in order to look into the situation thoroughly. The ASP interacted with the transgender community, promising them a comprehensive investigation and actions to protect members of the community.

It is alarming to learn that these kinds of events happen often in the province of K-P, taking the lives of many transgender people annually.
