Déjà vu
Firstly, what is déjà vu? “Déjà vu” describes the uncanny sensation that you’ve already experienced something, even when you know you never have. Wow. Let that sink in. Has this ever happened to you? I mean, you feel like something has already happened but it hasn’t. It’s just not possible!
Personal experience
I remember the first time I came back to Pakistan on an airplane. Honestly, I thought that I had done this all before. Getting off the plane. Being greeted by family. Going back to my house. But, how could I? It was my first time on an airplane. Yeah. I didn’t quite get it either. And, a few years later, I decided to get to the bottom of it.
Because… I’m a very curious person. So, I attacked the net. You know, like any Generation Z person.
Apparently, déjà vu is a common experience. I mean, that’s why it has its own name. Okay. Let’s move onto the facts. About 60-80 percent of the population has experienced it. At least ONCE in their lifetimes. Isn’t that cool??
Causes?
Well, there’s no scientific and proven cause. YET. Maybe, after a few years, they’ll discover something. Maybe. Hopefully, we’ll be alive to witness it. I mean, that would be cool.
Researchers can’t easily study déjà vu. Why? Because it happens without warning and often in people without underlying health concerns.
Additionally, déjà vu experiences tend to end as quickly as they begin. The sensation may be so fleeting that if you don’t know much about déjà vu, you may not even realize what just happened. SO RELATABLE! Furthermore, you might feel a bit unsettled but quickly brush off the experience. Experts suggest several different causes of déjà vu. Most agree it likely relates to memory in some way.
Final Thoughts
Finally, I think it’s safe to say that we’ve all experienced this phenomenon. Well, if you remember it. But, yeah. It’s pretty common. I feel like most of us don’t even understand the full magnitude of this process and just push it to the side. Which probably seems more feasible then. But, who knows for sure?
