Karachi hosted a workshop on environmental reporting

In order to emphasize the value of investigative and data-driven journalism in environmental reporting, the Global Neighbourhood for Media Innovation (GNMI) organized a three-day training workshop on Sabz Journalism Environmental Reporting in Karachi in partnership with the US Department of State.

GNMI General Secretary Syed Masood Raza stated in his speech that “investigative and data-driven journalism are indispensable tools in Pakistan’s environmental reporting arsenal, crucial for highlighting human-centric critical issues, ensuring accountability.”

In addition, Raza stated that ethical standards are the cornerstone of environmental reporting, providing guidance to journalists as they pursue “truth and accuracy” while maintaining the greatest levels of integrity.

Distinguished industry professionals, including Hassan Meer, an authority on digital marketing and monetization, and Ayaz Khan, the creator of MoJo Pakistan, led workshops during the program.

“These professionals provided the fellows with insightful advice on how to create engaging digital content and use successful digital marketing strategies. According to the announcement, this will enable them to build or improve their online news platforms for environmental reporting.

Javed Mahar Ahmed, Chief Conservator of the Sindh Wildlife Department, emphasized the important role informed media play in enlightening the people about environmental issues.

The pros’ experience helped the participants gain important insights into creating compelling digital content and using successful digital marketing techniques.

Attendees at the event included freelance journalists and filmmakers as well as representatives from well-known Karachi-based media outlets like Dawn, Samaa TV, Jang News, ARY News, Geo News, Aaj TV, Neo TV, 24 News, Radio Pakistan, Soch Media, Dialogue Pakistan, Sindh Express-News, and Gwadar e Tawar.
