Govt Opens Talks with PPP Ishaq Dar Leads

Government Reaches Out to PPP for Talks, Ishaq Dar to Lead Discussions

Islamabad – The government has reportedly approached the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) once again, seeking dialogue with its top leadership. Sources indicate that authorities are eager to hold direct talks and resolve pending political issues.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is expected to lead the discussions with PPP leaders. However, the party has informed the government that its top leaders, President Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto, are currently in Dubai. PPP has shared their anticipated return date, and once back, Ishaq Dar will initiate direct contact with both the PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership.

According to sources, Ishaq Dar will brief PPP leaders on the current political scenario, ongoing parliamentary proceedings, and upcoming legislation. He is also expected to hear the party’s concerns and reservations firsthand.

The outreach comes amid rising tensions following remarks by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari recently stated that CM Maryam Nawaz will not apologize for her comments during a public gathering, despite the PPP’s demand for an apology.

Bukhari also highlighted the Cholistan water canal issue, noting that Punjab had made concessions despite protests from Sindh. “PPP should focus on its own responsibilities and let PML-N carry out its work,” she said.

She firmly rejected calls for an apology, adding, “Why should Maryam Nawaz apologize for working for the rights of Punjabis? People appreciate Lahore’s development; the same vision should be applied to transform Karachi as well.”
