Indian-Sponsored Terrorist Gul Rahman Killed in Helmand Province

Helmand, Afghanistan – Gul Rahman, also known as Ustad Mureed, an Indian-backed terrorist commander, reportedly died under mysterious circumstances in Helmand province on September 17, 2025.

Rahman, who served as the trainer and operational head of the Indian proxy group Fitna al Hindustan (Majeed Brigade), was implicated in multiple attacks targeting Pakistani security forces, civilians, Chinese nationals, and various institutions.

Sources say his death highlights the ongoing use of Afghan territory as a base for terrorist activities directed against Pakistan.

Ties to Previous Attacks

Rahman and his group have been linked to several deadly incidents. On March 11, 2025, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) hijacked the Jaffar Express passenger train traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, carrying 380 passengers. The attack claimed the lives of at least 64 people, including 18 soldiers, while security forces killed 33 hijackers during the rescue operation.

In August, the United States officially designated the BLA and its Majeed Brigade faction as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs). U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the designation under Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act and Executive Order 13224 reflects the groups’ continued involvement in lethal attacks across Pakistan.

The Majeed Brigade has also been added as an alias to the BLA’s prior designation as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) entity. The BLA was originally labeled an SDGT in 2019 following repeated terrorist incidents, and since then, the group has claimed responsibility for several high-profile attacks, including suicide bombings near Karachi Airport and the Gwadar Port Authority Complex in 2024.

Authorities say the BLA, along with its Majeed Brigade faction, remains a major security threat in Pakistan.
