Pakistan Approves Hajj 2026 Policy and AI Policy 2025

Islamabad – July 31, 2025:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led a cabinet meeting where two big decisions were made: approval of the Hajj Policy 2026 and the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy 2025.

Big Changes in Hajj 2026 Policy
The government has increased the quota for the government Hajj scheme to 70%, while private tour operators will get 30% of the total seats.
In 2025, the quota was 50-50, but many pilgrims could not go to Hajj due to poor planning. This change aims to make the process better and more transparent.

The government Hajj package is expected to cost between Rs11,50,000 and Rs12,50,000.

Hajj 2026 Payment Details:

Payment collection is likely to start in the first week of August 2025.

It will be collected in two parts.

The first instalment will be around Rs500,000 to Rs550,000.

Only registered pilgrims can pay.

Once the quota is full, no more payments will be accepted.

Pakistan Launches AI Policy 2025
The cabinet also approved the National AI Policy 2025. This plan will help Pakistan grow in the field of artificial intelligence.

Main Goals of the AI Policy:

Train 1 million AI experts by 2030.

Start 50,000 AI-based public projects.

Launch 1,000 local AI products.

Give 3,000 AI scholarships every year.

Support 1,000 research projects.

Involve women and differently-abled people in AI education.

Improve cybersecurity and data protection.

Create an AI Innovation Fund and an AI Venture Fund for businesses.

An AI Council and a detailed Action Plan will manage the work. PM Shehbaz said this policy will help modernize Pakistan’s economy, especially in agriculture, public services, and governance.
