Haris Rauf 6-0 Controversy vs India

Haris Rauf Sparks Controversy with “6-0” Gesture as India Records Historic Chase Against Pakistan

DUBAI – Pakistan’s Haris Rauf drew attention and criticism after celebrating with the “6-0” gesture during the Asia Cup clash against India on Sunday. The signal refers to Pakistan’s air force operation in May, when six Indian Air Force jets, including Rafales, were reportedly shot down.

Rauf, responding to chants of “Kohli, Kohli” from Indian fans, mimicked a fighter jet and flashed the “6-0” sign toward the crowd. While the gesture sparked outrage among some Indian media outlets, many overlooked Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav’s refusal to shake hands with Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha before the match – a customary show of sportsmanship.

On the field, India staged a record-breaking chase, pursuing a 172-run target in just 18.5 overs with six wickets in hand. The Dubai International Stadium witnessed a blistering performance from the Indian openers, who combined for a 50-run stand in only 4.4 overs. By the ninth over, they had reached a century partnership – the fastest in this year’s tournament.

India finished at 172 for 4, marking their highest-ever successful chase against Pakistan in Asia Cup history. For Pakistan, Farhan’s half-century was a rare bright spot, but their bowlers struggled to contain India’s aggressive start, led by Sharma and Gill.
