Elvish Yadav, an Indian YouTuber, was detained for selling snake venom as a party drug
The Indian influencer Elvish Yadav, who emerged victorious from the second season of Bigg Boss Over-The-Top (OTT), has been placed under arrest on charges of smuggling snake venom into rave parties in his hometown.
Yadav, 26, has been in custody for 14 days in accordance with the Wildlife Protection Act, according to a story from Indian media that The Sun quoted.
Following a police raid at a party in Noida, Uttar Pradesh in November, when guests were discovered to be self-intoxicating with snake venom, he was taken into custody.
According to Indian broadcaster NDTV, authorities found nine snakes—including cobras—along with 20 milliliters of snake venom.
Yadav was implicated by all five suspects as the party planner and supplier of snake venom after police opened an inquiry and questioned them about possible snake smuggling.
Following his apprehension, the well-known YouTuber made an appearance on Sunday before the Surajpur, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, District and Sessions Court.
According to India Today, the animal protection organization People For Animals also claimed that Yadav and other individuals were using snakes and snake venom in movies.
No celebrity is above the law, according to Uttar Pradesh Environment Minister Arun Saxena, who emphasized that the law will be enforced.
“Law will take its course, and no celebrity is bigger than the law,” Saxena said.
Although originally denying any participation, Elvish has reportedly admitted to arranging for snakes and snake venom at the rave parties he organized, according to police sources.
