UN Declares May 24th International Day of the Markhor Protect Pakistan's National Treasure

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has made a big decision by declaring May 24 as the International Day of the Markhor. This special day was proposed by Pakistan and supported by eight other countries.

The Markhor, often called the “screw-horned goat,” is a special animal for Pakistan because it’s their national animal. The main goal of this declaration is to make people all around the world more aware of the Markhor and to get everyone to work together to protect it.

The UNGA wants everyone involved to focus on saving the Markhor and its home, which is where it naturally lives. They know how important the Markhor is for the environment, and they also think that protecting it can help bring more tourists to the area and improve the economy in those regions.

By doing this, they hope to encourage more countries to join hands and take steps to save this unique animal and the places where it lives.
