Father Daughter Swept Away in Islamabad Floods as Rescue Continues

Floods in Islamabad: Father and Daughter Swept Away, Search Continues

Rescue 1122 teams saved five people from a car trapped in floodwater and took them to the hospital for treatment. Officials said a search is still going on to find four women and a child who were also swept away by the strong floodwater.

One of the tragic incidents happened on July 22 in DHA Phase 5, Islamabad. A father and daughter were inside their car when it got caught in fast-moving water after heavy monsoon rain. Eyewitnesses said they could not escape and were carried away by the flood.

Rescue divers are still trying to find the missing family members.

Since the start of the monsoon season, 266 people have died and 628 have been injured due to rain and flooding in Pakistan.

Punjab was hit the hardest, with 144 people dead and 488 injured. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported 63 deaths and 79 injuries. Sindh had 25 deaths, Balochistan 16, Islamabad eight, Gilgit-Baltistan seven, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir two.

Besides the loss of lives, many homes, animals, and properties have also been damaged.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned that more flash floods could happen in small rivers and drains.
