Islamabad Karachi Flight Returns Amid Storm
Storm Forces Islamabad-Karachi Flight to Return Safely
Karachi, August 19, 2025: A private airline flight traveling from Islamabad to Karachi had to abort its landing on Tuesday due to severe stormy weather and returned safely to Islamabad.
Sources report that the pilot of flight ER-501 attempted to land at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi twice but was unable to do so because of intense weather conditions. Prioritizing passenger safety, the pilot communicated the situation to travelers and decided to fly the aircraft back to Islamabad, where it landed safely.
The storm also disrupted Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) operations in Karachi. Several flights, including Karachi to Quetta and Karachi to Islamabad, were canceled. Other flights, such as Lahore to Karachi and international routes from Karachi to Jeddah, Madinah, and Najaf, experienced delays due to the weather and passenger-related issues. Two PIA flights scheduled for Wednesday morning were canceled as a precaution.
The airline has advised passengers to contact its call center for real-time updates on flight schedules.
Earlier on Tuesday, heavy rain in Karachi and surrounding areas caused widespread flight delays at Jinnah International Airport, affecting both domestic and international routes. Airport sources reported that PIA flight PK-300 from Karachi to Islamabad departed 30 minutes late, Fly Jinnah flight 670 left at 8:00 am after an hour delay, and AirSial’s 7:00 am flight had not yet taken off.
