Heavy Floods Submerge Manjhand and Surrounding Villages in Jamshoro

JAMSHORO – Floodwaters continue to wreak havoc in the Jamshoro district as the water level in the Indus River surges. At Kotri Barrage, water inflow reached 364,000 cusecs, while the discharge stood at 339,500 cusecs, according to the control room.

The rising waters have inundated Manjhand, the largest taluka of the district, submerging nearly 70% of the area. Hundreds of acres of standing crops have been destroyed, and floodwater has reached key locations, including an old Hindu temple and the local railway station.

The flood has disrupted connectivity to several villages, with water approaching the Indus Highway near Sehwan. Residents are evacuating as entire villages in Jamshoro remain underwater. Earlier reports indicate that 130 villages have been affected, with crops submerged and homes damaged. In the Petaro area, floodwaters have entered four villages, while access to Buddhapur, Manzoor Abad, and nearby villages has been cut off.

Meanwhile, the peak flood has passed through the Guddu and Sukkur barrages, and the river’s water level is slowly receding. At Guddu Barrage, inflow was recorded at 260,300 cusecs and outflow at 231,500 cusecs. Sukkur Barrage saw inflow at 261,600 cusecs, with outflow dropping to 206,400 cusecs.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as relief and rescue operations remain underway.
