Karachi Faces Heavy Rain; Mayor Orders Staff on Duty
KARACHI – Parts of Karachi have been hit by heavy rainfall since Tuesday morning, as forecasted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
In response, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has canceled all staff leave, directing municipal personnel to remain on duty to manage drainage and minimize disruptions. The mayor warned that strict action would be taken against any delays or negligence, adding that he, along with his team, is personally monitoring the situation on the ground.
Earlier, light showers that began in various areas on Monday night intensified into heavy downpours by early Tuesday, providing some relief to residents struggling with the humid weather.
Among the areas currently facing torrential rain are Tariq Road, Azizabad, Shahrah-e-Quaideen, Boat Basin, Liaquatabad, Hassan Square, North Nazimabad, SITE Area, Clifton, Defence, Qayyumabad, Shahrah-e-Faisal, the Airport, Quaidabad, Malir, Landhi, and Korangi.
Authorities continue to advise residents to exercise caution while traveling and to report any drainage or flooding issues promptly.
