Karachi Police Shakeup 12 Officers Removed from SP Posts
Major Police Reshuffle in Karachi to End Influence-Based Postings
KARACHI — In a significant administrative move, 12 police officers temporarily serving as Superintendents of Police (SP) in Karachi have been ordered to return to their original posts. The decision, confirmed through an official notification, is part of a broader effort to curb influence-based appointments and restore merit in the city’s law enforcement structure.
These officers, originally appointed as Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) or Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPO), were holding SP-level responsibilities without formal promotion.
Among those affected is Grade-17 officer Majida Parveen, who has been directed to step down as SP Investigation-I East. Ahmed Iqbal Memon has been removed as SP Gulshan, while Zulfiqar Haider Jafri has vacated the SP Gadap Town post.
Other key changes include:
Faiza Sodhar, removed from SP Landhi
Masroor Jatoi, relieved as SP Orangi
Salman Waheed, removed from SP New Karachi
Naim Ahmed (SDPO), removed from SP Saddar
Darakhshan SDPO, removed from SP Clifton
Qaiser Ali Shah (SDPO), removed from SP City
Muhammad Nawaz, no longer SP Keamari
Asif Manzoor, removed from SP Lyari
Zain Raza Baloch, relieved as SP SITE
This major reshuffle impacts several crucial zones in Karachi and aims to enforce transparency and professionalism within the police ranks.
In related news, a disturbing robbery incident was caught on CCTV in Karachi’s Buffer Zone. A resident was looted at gunpoint in broad daylight while standing outside his home with his minor daughter. The incident occurred as he was preparing to take her to school, further highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the metropolis.
