Karachi: SSGC Cancels Independence Day Gas Shutdown in District West
KARACHI — The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has withdrawn its earlier announcement of a day-long gas shutdown in Karachi’s District West, scheduled for August 14.
The suspension, initially planned from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., was set to affect several areas, including Haroonabad SITE Area, Sher Shah, SITE, Jehanabad, Mianwali Colony, Lashari Mohalla, Metroville, Bawani Chali, Pathan Colony, Old Golimar, Rexer Colony, Hasan Oliya, Muslimabad, SITE Industrial Area, Gulbai, Mauripur, Tikri Village, and Muslim Colony.
The shutdown had been arranged to relocate a gas pipeline at the request of the Karachi Water Board. However, the Water Board’s pipeline restoration program has now been put on hold.
According to SSGC, the decision to cancel the suspension was taken to ensure an uninterrupted gas supply to consumers during the Independence Day holiday. A spokesperson confirmed that Tuesday’s earlier statement about the shutdown should be considered null and void.
