KE announced less load shedding in Ramadan

Karachi’s sole power provide KE (K-Electric) announced about load shedding in Ramadan. On Thursday it was said that it would exempt 75% of the feeders. That providing electricity to the port city from load-shedding on the occasion of Ramadan. While the entire metropolis would not face power outages during Eid.

The power utility added that on the occasion of Eid, the entire city would not face any power outage.

KE’s Chief Marketing and Communication Officer (CMCO) Sadia Dada, addressing a press conference alongside the company’s chief executive Moonis Alvi, said a 220 KV double circuit project in Jamshoro has been completed with the help of the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC).

The spokesperson said NTDC has allowed KE to add 450 MW to its system. In which, a total of 1,100 MW electricity would be provided to Karachi.

Moreover, the work on Bin Qasim Power Plant III is 70% complete. While up to 70% installation work of pipelines for the project is also complete.

In April-May, the demand for electricity may go up from 2,900 MW to 3,000 MW, however, there will be no need for load management this month, she said.

Dada said that “Maximum power demand can go up to 3,300 MW”.
