Maryam Nawaz Vows to Defend Punjab Against Critics
Faisalabad: Speaking at a public gathering in Faisalabad, Maryam Nawaz said that while personal attacks against her do not bother her, any criticism of Punjab, its people, or the province’s development would be met with a strong response.
“If my opponents talk about me, I don’t mind. But if they target Punjab and its progress, I will confront them even at their doorstep,” she asserted.
Maryam highlighted that Punjab had provided relief worth Rs50 billion to its citizens, yet critics were reporting her to the IMF. She questioned why opposition parties objected when the province undertook development projects, such as building canals, and emphasized that Punjab contributes its fair share from the NFC Award toward public welfare.
She added that other provinces were welcome to pursue similar development initiatives, saying she would support progress in Sindh or elsewhere.
Turning to her political rivals, Maryam criticized the disorder within opposition parties, noting that their rallies often descend into chaos, with members resorting to throwing ink and shoes at each other.
“We also faced difficult times, but the PML-N stood united like a wall. These people, however, scatter like birds when tested,” she remarked.
