Rain Delays Clash Nationals vs. Tigers Ends in Draw
It rained heavily here on Friday, causing the outfield to be extremely dampened. As a result, the toss for the all-important duel between the Tigers and Nationals was delayed.
After a tireless effort from the ground staff, the outfield was deemed fit for the action and the coin toss finally happened.
The coin flipped in Toronto Nationals’ captain Colin Munro, who put Montreal Tigers into bat.
The Tigers, however, could only bat for two overs in which they scored 25 for the loss of two wickets before the rain returned and the match was soon called off.
Dilpreet Bajwa remained unbeaten with a six-ball 18 which featured three boundaries while Jason Behrendorff bagged two wickets.
As a result of the stalemate, the Toronto Nationals and Montreal Tigers shared a point each.
The Tigers remained at the top of the GT20 Canada standings with seven points in four matches while the Nationals remained at the third with five points in five matches.
Leaders Tigers next face Vancouver Knights on Sunday while Nationals will take on the same opposition tomorrow.
