New Naval Chief is Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf
Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf has been appointed as the new chief of naval staff, the Pakistan Navy announced on Tuesday.
According to a statement from the service, the ceremony to shift command will take place on October 7. Vice Admiral Naveed will also receive his promotion to the rank of Admiral during the ceremony.
In 1989, Vice Admiral Naveed joined the Pakistan Navy’s Operations Branch to begin his naval career. He holds degrees from the US Naval War College, the Royal College of Defense Studies in the UK, and the National Defense University (NDU) in Islamabad.
He has held numerous important leadership and staff roles throughout his career, including those of Commander of the Pakistan Fleet and Commandant of the Pakistan Naval Academy.
Along with serving as the Deputy President of the National Defense University, he has also held important positions as the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff for Operations, Training and Personnel, and Administration.
Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf is the Naval Headquarters’ Chief of Staff at the moment. He has been honored with the Hilal-i-Imtiaz and Tamgha-i-Basalat for his bravery and great professional service.
