Major roads, such as Sharea Faisal, are off-limits to traffic

As part of security preparations for the arrival of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign entourage in Karachi on Tuesday, major thoroughfares will remain blocked to traffic.

The traffic police in the city provided commuters with an alternative traffic strategy.

A spokeswoman for the traffic police stated that all routes from the Jinnah Airport to the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) will be blocked, as will the routes from Sharea Faisal to Sharea Quaideen and Gurumandir.

Dr. Ziauddin Road’s two tracks—the Lily Bridge and Ziauddin Bridge—from the Lily signal to the Shaheen Complex at Khajoor Chowk are both blocked to traffic today. The spokesman went on to say that vehicles will not be allowed on either of the two lanes of MA Jinnah Road today, which run from Gurumandir to Garden Chowk (Aman Tower).

When leaving the Imtiaz Store on the Qayyumabad Bridge, residents heading from DHA and Clifton to the airport should turn left and pass through Korangi Industrial Area, Brooks Chowrangi, Singer Chowrangi, Murtaza Chowrangi, and Dawood Chowrangi.

Alternatively, commuters can take a left from Quaidabad and then a left from the Main National Highway to reach Jinnah Terminal Airport via Malir Halt.

It is recommended that travelers going to the airport via Superhighway Malir Cantt No. 6 Check Post use Mauripur Road and Lyari Expressway instead of I.I. Chundrigarh Road, Tower, and Kemari West.

In a same vein, travelers from the airport heading to Saddar are recommended to use Jinnah Avenue’s Gate 6.

Routes via Defense, Qayyumabad Flyover, and Korangi Industrial Area are advised for individuals traveling to Jinnah Hospital Cardio and the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD).

Similarly, it is suggested that those coming from Korangi turn left off Korangi Road and go past Kala Pul and Navy Heights in order to reach Jinnah Hospital and Cantt Station.

It is recommended for commuters to turn left from Lasbela Chowk onto Business Recorder Road, since the road that leads from Gurumandir to Numaish will be blocked to traffic. After that, they should continue by turning left on Nishtar Road until they reach the Albela Signal. They should go to Ramswamy from the Mazar signal and then make another left turn to get to the Civil Hospital and Tower.

In the same way, people who plan to travel from Numaish Chowrangi to the Jamacloth should use different routes.

According to the traffic police, travelers can turn left into Aga Khan Road (Makki Masjid) to go from Eidgah Chowk to Garden Chowk (Gul Plaza), where they can continue on to the Karachi Zoo.

The hotline number for the traffic police is 1915. If you need any more advice or information, please contact them.

In order to prevent any disruption to the people and guarantee a smooth welcoming for a foreign group arriving, Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi declared on April 21 that April 23 will be a public holiday in the city.

While on an important visit to Pakistan, Iranian President Raisi is accompanied by his spouse and a high-ranking entourage. He is now in Lahore and is to travel to Karachi, the largest city in the nation, later today.
