Pakistani Twitter Services Have Been Restored Following a 39-Hour Outage

The well-known microblogging site X, formerly known as Twitter, is back up and running in Pakistan after 39 hours of downtime.

The issue started on Saturday night about 9 p.m., making it difficult for users to view tweets and publish new content. They encountered the notice “this site can’t be reached” when they attempted to access the website.

A real-time tracking tool for social media and internet outages, Downdetector.pk, received complaints of X being unavailable. They had received at least 185 reports by 9:01 p.m., and by 9:24 p.m., they had received 239 reports. When the website went down, many people vented their fury on social media.

Cybersecurity firm NetBlocks verified that X had been shut down in Pakistan. This adds to a number of current internet-related concerns that the nation has been facing, such as problems with other social networking sites.

This outage is particularly significant because it disrupted numerous services during Pakistan’s parliamentary elections in 2024. People use platforms like X to exchange ideas and information on significant occasions like elections.

It’s important to note that X experienced a comparable issue on a worldwide level in May 2023. There were a lot of complaints at the time because users couldn’t access the platform from anywhere in the world.
