Pakistan Strengthens Diplomatic & CPEC Ties

Diplomats Present Credentials as Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Bilateral Ties

Islamabad – In a formal ceremony marked by a guard of honour, newly appointed ambassadors presented their diplomatic credentials to President Asif Zardari. The event highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to fostering stronger international relations.

During private meetings with the High Commissioner-designate of Sri Lanka and other newly appointed ambassadors, President Zardari emphasized Pakistan’s focus on enhancing cooperation in trade, economy, and cultural exchange. He extended his best wishes to the diplomats, expressing hope that their tenures would strengthen ties and promote regional partnerships.

The ceremony was attended by diplomats from several countries, including Rear-Admiral H.L.A. Don Fred Senevirante from Sri Lanka, Chandra Warsenanto from Indonesia, Kylychbek Sultan from Kyrgyzstan, Wolfgang Oliver Kutschera from Austria, and Ina Ruth Luise Lepel from Germany.

President Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s openness to expanding collaboration across diverse sectors and encouraged the envoys to actively contribute to deepening diplomatic engagement.

Gwadar’s Potential Discussed in Meeting with Chinese Ambassador

Earlier, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal met with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong to highlight the region’s rich mineral potential, particularly around Gwadar. Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry and senior officials from both sides also attended the discussions.

The meeting reviewed ongoing projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and laid the groundwork for the upcoming Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting, where key decisions are expected to strengthen bilateral cooperation further.

Ambassador Jiang reaffirmed China’s commitment to Pakistan’s development and expressed confidence that the partnership would continue to grow in the years ahead.
