Elahi adds that IMF and EU representatives frequently pay Imran a visit in jail
PTI President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi asserted on Thursday that Imran Khan, the party’s leader, is frequently visited by officials from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at Adiala Jail.
Speaking to reporters at the Special Court (Central) of Lahore, Elahi made this declaration. Elahi’s attorney, Amir Saeed Rawn, attested to the PTI president’s statements to Dawn.com.
The PTI president, who is now detained at Adiala, was brought before the court to testify in a money laundering case that is being heard against him.
Elahi disclosed to the reporters that Imran was being detained in the cell next to his.
“Imran receives a visit from EU and IMF representatives, and when polls are conducted, the party chief is expected to garner an unprecedented number of votes,” he continued.
“We have stood with Imran and we will stand with him.”
Declaring that “there will be no rigging in these polls,” he said that the election date had been declared in accordance with the Supreme Court’s orders.
Elahi stated that two “laadlas” (favorites) had allegedly been “imposed” on the country, but she did not specifically name former premiers Nawaz and Shehbaz Sharif.
He stated that Shehbaz Sharif’s PDM government has caused extreme inflation in the nation and that they have to acknowledge the declining support they are losing in Punjab.
He expressed his optimism that the Sharif brothers would not be able to “rig the ballot this time.”
He vehemently denied all accusations made against him, calling them irrational and unjustified.
Elahi went before Magistrate Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh in a case involving money laundering, and at that appearance, the attorney for the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) attempted to label Elahi’s son, Moonis Elahi, as an absconder.
Although non-bailable arrest orders had been issued for Moonis, according to the FIA, his arrest has not yet been carried out.
The attorney asked the court to designate Moonis as an absconder so that police may use Interpol to pursue his apprehension.
The hearing was postponed by the court until November 30 following the arguments.
Elahi was then taken before a different municipal court on a matter pertaining to appointments that were not authorized in the Punjab Assembly.
Elahi was brought before the court by detectives after his two-week remand in the case was up.
The hearing was postponed to November 30 after the court magistrate granted a 14-day extension to the PTI president’s judicial remand.
Since the beginning of June and following a statewide crackdown on the party in the wake of the May 9 violence, the PTI President has been arrested at least twelve times in a variety of incidents
