A'spectacular' special event is being planned at Buckingham Palace

Plans have begun to be made at Buckingham Palace for an impending special occasion.

It has been reported that Princess Anne has taken on the task of throwing a legendary garden party at the Palace. At Buckingham Palace, the Not Forgotten Association Garden Party has been a custom since 1921.

This special occasion—the only yearly garden party in the palace other than the monarch’s—was organized by the Duchess of Edinburgh last year.

A charitable organization called the Not Forgotten Association offers entertainment, leisure, and amusement to former service members who are ill, injured, or have impairments.

The Princess Royal and her husband Sir Timothy Lawrence last hosted the occasion in 2022.

Since the organization’s founding in 1920 to “provide comfort, cheer and entertainment for the wounded ex-servicemen still in hospital as a result of the Great War,” the Royal Family has maintained a connection with it.

Up until her passing in 1956, Princess Mary served as The Not Forgotten Association’s first Royal Patron.

In 2000, the Duchess of Kent gave way to the Princess Royal as Patron.

Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Prince Harry, and the late Queen Elizabeth are among the other royals who have hosted the esteemed occasion.

During the early years, the occasion was significantly less formal with visitors enjoying sports on the lawn and there were frequently no royals present.

Wounded soldiers were permitted to sip tea and “sit and play about as they like” in the garden by King George V and Queen Mary.

These days, a royal or a royal couple always hosts the event, which is more formal.

A growing number of senior members of the Royal Family are stepping back from royal activities due to health concerns, including Princess Anne, Queen Camilla, and the Duchess of Edinburgh.

Until their cancer treatments are completed, the King and Princess Kate will not be attending any public events.

Princess Anne honored the victims of the Lockerbie bombing in Dumfries earlier this week.
