Pakistan Cricket Board Declares Parental Support Policy for Cricketers

Pakistan Cricket Board has announced its parental support policy for both men & women cricketers to help them in their journey to parenthood.

PCB has targeted to motivate professional champions in their experience to parenting by granting various rights; that they can utilize during pregnancy and upon the birth of their child.

Maternity Policy

Women Cricketers can transfer to a non-playing role; also avail 12 months paid maternity leave followed by a guaranteed contract extension in the year later.
Adequate medical and physical support is to be given through parental support policy to keep up with their post-child rehabilitation.

Men Cricketers could utilize 30 days of fully paid leave within 56 days after the birth of their child.

Bismah Maroof’s Tweet

Just a week ago Pakistan’s Cricket Captain Bisma Maroof tweeted announcing her maternity leave.

The news regarding this new policy received huge appreciation from fans and supporters wholeheartedly. Zainab Abbas expressed it in her own way calling it a “fantastic initiative”. Also former team national captain Sana Mir congratulated all those involved.


PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan quoted in a press release; where he expressed ecstasy at the new policy, especially for women cricketers.

“The PCB has a duty of care towards its cricketers and at every turn, it has taken measures to support them” He also said in this relation, it is appropriate that we have a player-friendly parental support policy so that our professional cricketers can feel fully supported during an important stage in their lives, without worrying about their careers,”

“To have this policy for our women cricketers was even more significant. Women play a pivotal role in the development of a society. Now that we have a maternity leave policy; I am hopeful that it will attract more women and girls to take up the sport.” said Wasim Khan.
