Police Constable Killed in Blast Honored in State Funeral
PESHAWAR — A tragic attack shook the city when a police van on routine patrol was targeted with an explosion, leaving three officers and four civilians injured, according to the FIR filed by local authorities.
Investigators confirmed that the blast was caused by a remotely detonated improvised explosive device (IED), with ball bearings recovered from the scene, highlighting the attack’s brutal nature.
Constable Muhammad Sajjad, who lost his life while serving the public, was laid to rest in a state funeral at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines. The ceremony was conducted with full official honors, drawing senior civil and military leaders, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Acting Inspector General of Police Muhammad Ali Babakhel, Capital City Police Officer Dr. Mian Saeed, Pakistan Army officers, and other high-ranking officials.
During the service, fellow officers paid tribute to Sajjad’s bravery and sacrifice, remembering him as a dedicated officer who gave his life in the line of duty.
A senior police official, speaking at the funeral, assured the public, “The blood of our martyr will not go in vain,” emphasizing the state’s determination to bring those responsible to justice and continue the fight against terrorism.
