Prologue of my story- Original and Still Untitled!

For the loyal fans out there (they know who they are), I told you something in the last article. Yup. That’s right. I’m finally sharing the prologue to my story… I’m getting it published soon so I hope you guys will show support then too. Hopefully. Okay, let’s do this. Please handle with care.

PROLOGUE

Ellie should have been crying. Just like everyone else in the room, she should have been wailing and weeping and shouting that life was unfair. But, Ellie’s eyes were bone-dry. It’s not that Ellie had Alexithymia; she was perfectly capable of being emotional and compassionate. She once cried so much, she fell asleep with tears pouring down her face, and when she woke up, the tears were still there– wet and moist. So, if anything, Ellie was an obedient captive to her emotions. But, the question remained. Why was Ellie being apathetic at a funeral? The answer was she didn’t know herself. She even tried to fake cry to avoid suspicion and criticism, but it didn’t work, like many other things in her life.

“How are you holding up?” Ellie looked up from the carpeted floor to meet gorgeous green eyes. She moved her gaze up and stared at the messy pile of black hair for a few seconds before she saw a raised eyebrow.
She gave her best fake smile and answered, “I’m okay. Did you know the deceased well?” She hoped she sounded convincing. If this guy had any relationship at all with the twenty-two-year-old deceased girl, he certainly didn’t look like it. His eyes were drier than Ellie’s. Where Ellie had at least attempted to fake cry and dab a couple of water squirts near her eyes, the man’s face was intact. His eyes were sparkling, but the shine was not due to sorrow. His cheekbones were accentuated, and he had a faint dimple on his right cheek. Ellie bit down her tongue to prevent grinning. Right now, it would get her more than just a glare. She allowed her eyes to tread slowly down. Trim waist, muscular arms… and wait! Was that a custom-made Armani suit? Wow. This guy reeked of privilege and money. She nodded her head approvingly.
“I’m glad you appreciate my looks.”

PROLOGUE CONTINUED

Ellie smiled again, but this time, it wasn’t fake.
“You don’t talk much, do you?” The man shifted his weight from one leg to the other. He looked nervous and intimidating at the same time. Probably bipolar.
“Well, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive my cousin. I knew she wanted to leave this world, but I never thought that she had the guts to do it.” He kept a blank face. Maybe someone should be checking him for Alexithymia. This guy was worse than Squidward on a good day. Definitely bipolar.

“I’m sorry for your loss.” She said, this time with genuine sincerity.
This earned her a sad smile from him. “Yeah. We were pretty close. She chose this path, so I’m not weeping like my aunt or sister. I just hope it was worth it; I hope she’s happy.”
That’s when it clicked. The girl committed suicide. That must have been why Ellie didn’t feel the need to shed tears. Ellie condemned suicides. But, how had her body known that?
“Yeah. Hopefully.” Ellie tried not to sound anti-social, but she wasn’t used to being verbose any day of the week. She contemplated asking another question when the man cleared his throat.
“I better go. It was nice meeting you, Ellie-Rose.” He walked away before he could see the shock on Ellie’s face. How did he know her name?

What Did You Think?

Hopefully, you loved it as much as I do. Maybe even more? I worked on this prologue for about a couple of days and getting the perfect words (as I told you that words are the most important instrument that a writer has) took another couple of days.
I hope you liked it and will support me further.
