Heavy Rain Hits Parts of Punjab – People Told to Be Careful

According to the PDMA (Provincial Disaster Management Authority), Sheikhupura got the most rain so far — 48 mm, followed by Lahore with 40 mm.

Other cities got lighter rain:

Gujranwala: 6 mm

Murree: 5 mm

Faisalabad: 4 mm

Sialkot: 2 mm

Mandi Bahauddin: 1 mm

Rain was also seen in Attock, Toba Tek Singh, Bahawalnagar, Kasur, and Bahawalpur. This shows that the weather in Punjab is changing across many areas.

PDMA chief Irfan Ali Kathia said that this monsoon rain will likely continue until tomorrow. He also warned that heavy rain is expected in many parts of Punjab in the next 24 hours.

He asked people to be careful, as the weather might get worse.

The PDMA gave the following safety advice:

Stay indoors during lightning or thunderstorms.

Avoid staying in weak or damaged buildings, especially in villages, as heavy rain can damage such buildings.

The PDMA is working closely with district officials and is watching the weather to make sure people stay safe and help is given quickly if needed.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif told the NDMA (National Disaster Management Authority), rescue teams, and government departments to be on high alert due to the recent heavy rains.

He also gave instructions to prepare for possible flooding near the Indus River and other rivers. The NDMA and PDMAs have been told to work together and take quick safety steps to protect people.
