Rashid Khans Funny Dismissal vs Sri Lanka

Rashid Khan’s Comical Dismissal Adds Twist to Sri Lanka’s Win Over Afghanistan

Rashid Khan, known for his explosive batting, played a brisk 24 off 23 balls, hitting two boundaries and a six before falling unusually.

The comical moment came in the 18th over of Afghanistan’s innings when Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thushara delivered a deceptive slower-ball yorker. Rashid, looking to slog-sweep, was beaten completely, with the ball deflecting off his back thigh and rolling onto the stumps.

What followed left everyone amused. Thushara immediately appealed for LBW, seemingly unaware that the ball had already hit the stumps. Rashid, too, thought he was given out LBW and began considering a review, only to realize that the umpire was signaling bowled.

It turned out to be a rare instance where both bowler and batter appealed for a dismissal that was, in fact, a clean bowled.

Sri Lanka had little trouble in the contest otherwise. Having already topped Group B, the former champions cruised past Afghanistan with eight balls to spare. Fast bowler Thushara set the tone early, dismantling the Afghan top order with four wickets.

In the chase, wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis anchored the innings with a classy unbeaten 74 off 52 balls, laced with 10 boundaries, ensuring Sri Lanka advanced unbeaten into the next round. Bangladesh also joined them as the other Group B qualifier.
